Less than one percent of women getting a medication-induced abortion at Planned Parenthood had a severe side effect or a failed abortion, according to a new study. Researchers discovered the rate of abortion-related complications sending women to the emergency clinic or calling for a blood transfusion, for example, was one in 625 throughout 2009 and 2010. "At Planned Parenthood, medical abortion is extremely safe," said reproductive health researcher James Trussell from Princeton University in New Jersey, who dealt with the study. "The most common adverse outcome is just continuing pregnancy," he added. "It doesn't work 100 percent of the time.". The information came from 233,805 first-trimester abortions done using the medications mifepristone and misoprostol at 317 Planned Parenthood health centers.

  • Aggregate Sentiment is meant to be an indicator of an individual's overall sentiment.
  • The Mean is meant to be an indicator of an individual's average comment sentiment.
  • The Standard Deviation, when there are enough quotes, will indicate an individual's consistency of sentiment (i.e. a Standard Deviation of 0 would mean they were very consistent in their sentiment and 1 would mean they were very inconsistent).

Note that quote stats are likely to be meaningless beyond the aggregate score due to the tiny sample size. However, they are always provided just in case you find something useful there.
